North Carolina Woman Fired After Drunk, Racist Rant Goes Viral

A North Carolina woman has been fired from her telecommunications job after video showed her harassing two black women in a parking lot earlier this month.

Video posted to Facebook on Oct. 19 shows Susan Westwood, 51, confronting two black women who were waiting for AAA outside their apartment complex in Charlotte. In the video, Westwood can be heard demanding to know where the women lived, asks about their "baby daddy" and even threatens to take out a concealed weapon.

"Is your boyfriend here? Is your baby daddy here?" Westwood can be heard asked the two sisters at the beginning of one video. "Nobody cares! I'm white and I'm hot. I'm white and I'm hot."

In the video, Westwood appears unsteady on her feet and occasionally slurs her words and can be heard asking the two sisters, Leisa and Mary Garris, why they are in the parking lot. "What's going on here in this parking lot that you feel that you need to congregate?"

Westwood also repeatedly bragged about her six-figure job, saying "I'm white and I make $125,000 a year and I want to make sure that you're all up in here." When the sisters asks Westwood to leave them alone, she curses at them. As the sisters begin walking away, one tells Westwood that she will call 911. Westwood can be heard yelling back at them, "Do I need to bring out my concealed weapon, too?"

After one of the sisters posted the footage to Facebook on Friday, the video quickly went viral, and caught the attention of Westwood's employer, Spectrum Enterprises, which is owned by Charter Communication.

"The incident recorded in Charlotte is a blatant violation of Charter's code of conduct and clearly disregards the company's commitment to inclusion and respectful behavior," the company said in a statement. "As such, Ms. Westwood's employment with the company has been terminated, effective immediately."

Four criminal summons have been issued by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office for Westwood - two counts of communicating threats, and two counts of simple assault.

The video is the latest in a series that have gone viral over the summer that shows a white woman harassing black people in public. Several of them have even earned nicknames, including Key Fob Kelly, Permit Patty and BBQ Becky.
