Producer Who Added 'Known Cheater' Graphic To Super Bowl Segment Fired

A Pittsburgh television station fired a producer because he added a graphic that identified Tom Brady as a "known cheater" to a segment about the upcoming Super Bowl matchup between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams. The segment featured a video of Brady hyping up Patriots fans before the team departed for Atlanta for Sunday's (February 3) game. In the video, the producer added a chyron underneath the Patriot's quarterback which said: "Tom Brady Known Cheater."

The station confirmed the producer's firing in a statement to Sports Illustrated.

“While fans are entitled to have personal opinions, we have a journalistic responsibility to provide unbiased reporting. The graphic that appeared Monday violated our news standards. The individual who created the graphic no longer works for KDKA-TV.”

The producer, Michael Telek, said in a tweet that he was responsible for the joke and announced that he had created a GoFundMe page to help him as he searches for a new place to work. Telek added that once he finds a job, he will donate the money to charity in Tom Brady's name.

Hi there, I got fired for this joke. I just bought a house so that is putting a pinch on things. Once I land a job there will be a GOAT Giveaway where I will donate the money to charity in Tom Brady's name.
