Men's quarterfinal action continued on Friday at the 2026 Cincinnati Open. Top ranked American Taylor Fritz started the ATP section of the schedule against fellow American and Montreal runner up Brandon Nakashima.
The match started as a slug fest, as both players were content to serve aces, and try to hold serve until the tiebreak. Even the tiebreak stayed close, but Nakashima would squeak out the 1st win.
The 2nd set was a different story. This set saw more rallies, and Fritz able to get a service break and claim the set.
The 3rd saw Fritz jump out early, but was unable to maintain the momentum, and was quickly caught by a surging Nakashima who went on to claim the deciding set.
Brandon Nakashima defeats Taylor Fritz 7-6(9), 4-6, 6-3.
Nakashima moves on to play the winner of the night sessions matchup between American Frances Tiafoe, and Italy's Lorenzo Mussetti.
