After dazzling fans and media in practice throughout training camp, Bengals rookie running back Joe Mixon finally got a chance to do it in an actual game. Cincinnati beat Tampa Bay 23-12 on Friday night, but the final score is irrelevant. There are plenty of positive takeaways from this game.
The Bengals' pass rush showed promise, the offensive line was competent and Mixon gave fans a glimpse of his potential. He finished with 31 yards on six carries. He also had an 11-yard reception where he eluded three defenders. Dave Lapham praised Mixon for his vision and said he makes it look "effortless." Mixon also had success pass blocking.
