The Bengals took the practice field for the first time since their 23-12 victory over the Buccaneers in their preseason opener. You can get an in-depth recap of that game here. Today, Bengals first round pick John Ross took part in 11-on-11 drills for the first time as a Bengal. He's still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, but it appears like Ross was cleared for full contact by team doctors.
I talked with Ross at the start of training camp about his health, what he will bring to the team and more. I expect Ross to sit out this week against the Kansas City Chiefs. He did work exclusively with the first-team offense. That tells me the Bengals will (ideally) want him on the field for Week 3 of the preseason, which is widely considered the 'dress rehearsal' for Week 1 of the regular season. I'm speculating, but I would bet that is a realistic target for Ross and the Bengals.
