Scooter Gennett is having a career season for the Reds. He's hitting .322, with 14 home runs and 58 RBI's. He's under Reds control through the 2019 season. There has been plenty of talk about trading Gennett.
The Los Angeles Dodgers "have had conversations" with the Reds about Gennett according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.
Trading Gennett would clear the decks for the Reds at second base and open things up for top prospect Nick Senzel in 2019. Senzel is out for the rest of 2018 with a torn tendon in his right index finger. The Reds promoted Dilson Herrera recently and he could take the reigns at second base for the remainder of 2018 if Gennett were to get traded.
