Reds silenced by Dodgers: Losing streak hits three

Well, so much for that momentum. The Reds winning streak of last week is officially a distant memory. Can the Reds play the Marlins again?

The Dodgers jumped on the Reds early and then held them down to win 6-1 Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.

The Reds drop to 5-11 on the season and have experienced an eight game losing streak, followed by a four game winning streak, followed by this three game losing streak..

The Reds managed just four hits on the night. Jose Peraza is mired in an 0 for 21 slump. BA: Peraza .154, Schebler .174, Puig .176, Winker .191, Kemp .200

The Dodgers knocked Tyler Mahle around early and often. LA scored in the first inning, then Joc Pederson launched a two-run homer as part of a three run 2nd inning. 4-0 Dodgers

Joey Votto got the Reds on the board with an RBI double to score Tyler Mahle (double) in the 3rd inning. 4-1 Dodgers

Down 4-1 with the bases loaded and two outs in the 4th inning, Bell elected to let Mahle hit and he struck out.

After allowing four runs in his first two innings, Mahle finished strong with four innings of scoreless baseball: 6 IN, 11 H (career high), 4 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 99 pitches/69 strikes. Mahle tied his longest ML start without issuing a walk.

Mahle has pitched 17 innings this season. The Reds have scored one run while he's been in the game.

Zach Duke came on the in the 7th and served up a two-out, two-run double to Alex Verdugo. 6-1 Dodgers

Duke's ERA climbs to 10.13.

Meanwhile, LA starter Kenta Maeda allows one run in 6.2 innings, throwing 98 pitches and retiring 9 of last 10 batters he faced.

Votto hit leadoff for the second time in his career (June 18, 2008 vs LA).

Votto is now the seventh player in Reds history to produce at least 900 RBI. Dave Concepcion is next on the list with 950 RBI. Johnny Bench is the franchise's all-time leader with 1,376 RBI.

The Dodgers did all the damage without NL HR leader Cody Bellinger, Justin Turner and AJ Pollock in the starting lineup.
