Cubs 15 Reds 7

Well, that was embarrassing.

The Cubs pounded out 22 hits and clobbered four homers on the way to beating the daylights out of the Reds 15-7. Seven Cubs had multiple hit games.

The Reds trailed 6-0 in the 2nd inning,10-2 in the 7th inning and 15-4 in the 9th.

The Reds lose 2 of 3 to an awful Cubs team and fall to 26-49. And remember, we are nowhere close to rock bottom.

The Reds are on pace to win 56 games. The Yankees have won 56 games.

The Reds did the following inside the first two innings.....Nick Senzel threw to the wrong base, Brandon Drury booted a ball, Joey Votto did not run hard out of the box and was thrown out at 2nd base when his pop fly dropped, Kyle Farmer was thrown out attempting to steal on a strikeout by Mike Moustakas, Graham Ashcraft was late getting over on a grounder to Votto, then Patrick Wisdom hit a grand slam made it 6-0 in the 2nd inning. Honestly, it was maybe the most ridiculous hour of Reds baseball I’ve ever witnessed.

Graham Ashcraft: It was a brutal night....not all his doing. 2.1 IN, 7 H, 7 R, 2 BB, K, HR, HBP. 68 pitches/44 strikes.

Max Schrock pitched the 8th inning: 7 H, 5 R, 2 HR.

Joey Votto had a three hit night, including crushing his 6th home run 418 feet. He has five hits over the last two games.

Tommy Pham had three hits, a 3-run homer and scored three times.

Brandon Drury saw his eight game hit streak and six game extra base hit streak end with an 0 for 4.

2 hits: Kyle Farmer.

Patrick Wisdom: Grand slam, solo homer, 6 RBI.

Perfect: Morel went 5 for 5 with 3 R, 2 RBI, HR.

Narciso Crook: The 23rd round pick of the Reds in 2013 made his ML debut with the Cubs, collecting an RBI double and a single.

Bullpen: Reiver Sanmartin: 2.2, 0 R.......Dauri Moreta: 1.0, 2 R........Ross Detwiler: 1.0, 3 H, R. His last seven appearances: 5.2 IN, 11 H, 6 R, 3 HR.

Nick Krall really has cornered the market on guys that have no business pitching in the majors. And reality is when you can't pitch for the worst bullpen in baseball there is only one place to go. The waiver wire.
