Mets right-hander Carlos Carrasco took a shutout to the 7th inning vs a challenged Reds offense Tuesday night. The Reds finally got to the 35-year old veteran with two runs in the 7th, but the Reds bullpen gave those two runs right back in the bottom of the 7th and that was that in a 6-2 Mets win. The Reds struck out 13 times, went 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position and left nine runners on base.
He is what he is: Mike Minor 5.1 IN, 5 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 3 K, 2 HR. 110 pitches/68 strikes. Francisco Lindor's two-run homer but the Mets on the board first in the 3rd inning. Jeff McNeil took him deep in the 4th inning. He needed 24 pitches in the 1st and 30 in the 3rd. But needed just 33 to cover the 4th-5th-6th innings. Bell sent him back out for the 6th inning at 93 pitches and he allowed two more hits and a run before being removed. Last three starts: 16.0 IN, 14 H, 9 R, 9 BB, 13 K, 4 HR, 5.06 ERA.
On the board: Trailing 4-0 into the 7th, Jake Fraley crushed a two-run homer to halve the Mets lead at 4-2. It left the bat at 107.1 mph and traveled 439 feet.
On it: Carlos Carrasco cruised to the 7th at 70 pitches, retiring 12 of 13. But then he found trouble, allowing three singles and the Fraley homer to end his night.

Bullpen woes: After the Reds scored two runs in the top of the 7th to cut the deficit to 4-2, Joel Kuhnel gave the Mets two back in the bottom of the inning.

Late threat: Trailing 6-2, the Reds loaded the bases with two outs. Alejo Lopez pinch-hit for Jose Barrero and struckout.
Small village: One night after stranding 11 baserunners, the Reds were back at it...leaving 9 more....including a runner on in each of the first four innings and the bases loaded in the 8th inning.
Good night: Catcher Austin Romine slapped a single through the right side and through the left side. Donovan Solano and Kyle Farmer two hits.
Strikeouts: Jonathon India 3, Barrero 3, all on sliders at least a foot off the plate, Votto 2, Senzel 2. Total: 13.
Close, but: Joey Votto smoked two balls that were caught at the wall in left-center field: 104.5 mph and 103.3 off the bat.
Hold up! The start of the game was delayed 51 minutes by rain.
