Bengals Links: Here's The Best Of What's Out There About The Win Over The Eagles.

Paul Domowitch, Philadelphia Daily News...
This wasn't catch-me-if-you-can Russell Wilson, throwing bubble screens and quick hitches and eluding pass rushers until his receivers got open.

This wasn't Aaron Rodgers, who killed the Eagles with a thousand paper cuts and seemed to get the ball out to his receivers before the pass rush even crossed the line of scrimmage.

This was Andy Dalton and the A.J. Green-less Bengals.

Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks, NFL.com...
Many expected the Bengals to part with McCarron last spring, but they decided he was too valuable to trade away. As a perennial playoff team in search of a Super Bowl title, it made sense at the time to hold onto a quality backup quarterback. However, the Bengals haven't enjoyed a successful 2016 campaign, and you could make a case that they need a mini-rebuild to return to the postseason.

McCarron is a valuable trade chip. Would he return a first-round pick from a team like the Cleveland Browns? Hue Jackson is familiar with his skill set and McCarron already knows Jackson's offensive system (Jackson was Cincinnati's offense coordinator during McCarron's first two seasons in the league). He would be an upgrade over any quarterback on the Browns' roster, and Cleveland is loaded with 2017 draft picks. One potential hang-up in this scenario would be the fact that both teams play in the same division. If that's a major issue, the Browns could look to Garappolo.

John Breech, CBS Sports...
It looks like the Bengals can function when A.J. Green isn't on the field, and Andy Dalton proved that against Philly. The Eagles had no answer for Daytime Dalton as the Bengals quarterback threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns. The impressive part about Dalton's performance is that nine different receivers caught passes and six different receivers had 20 or more yards in the game. Dalton (23 of 31) was dropping dimes everywhere with five of his completions going for over 20 yards, including a 50-yarder to Cody Core. Vontaze Burfict had two interceptions as the Bengals defense helped the team play its best all-around game of the season. The Bengals were so good, it's almost not worth mentioning the fact that kicker Mike Nugent missed an extra point for the third straight game.

Greg Bedard, SI.com...
Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict can cause trouble for his own team on Sundays with boneheaded plays, but in Week 13 he caused plenty of trouble for his opponent, wreaking havoc against the scuffling Eagles with two interceptions (one returned 47 yards), 15 total tackles and four pass deflections. The Bengals looked like their 2015 selves in the 32–14 victory, but too bad it was their first victory since Oct. 23.

Katherine Terrell, ESPN.com...
Cincinnati (4-7-1) looked like a new team, finally putting together its most complete game of the season.

The Bengals' only flaw Sunday was special teams. Kicker Mike Nugent missed his fifth extra point of the season, and a third-quarter kickoff by Nugent was returned 61 yards, leading to the Eagles' first touchdown on the ensuing drive. Nugent finished 4-for-4 on field goals and 2-of-3 on PATs.

It was how many had expected the Bengals to perform when they returned most of the team that made it to the playoffs last season. But if the half-empty stands were any indication, the light bulb came on too late for the season to be salvaged.

Frank Schwab, Shutdown Corner...
They can’t all be Justin Tucker.

While the Baltimore Ravens kicker continued on Sunday to hit 50-yard field goals like they’re extra points, other kickers can’t even hit extra points like they’re extra points. Yes Mike Nugent, we’re talking about you.
