The women's final at the 2022 Western and Southern Open featured a two-time grand slam champion facing off against a player who had to play in the first round of qualifiers. Two time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova took on Western and Southern Open qualifier Caroline Garcia.
What looked on paper to be a good match, was quickly derailed as Kvitova suffered an early leg injury. After a medical timeout, Garcia would pounce and take the first set. Garcia would quickly jump out to a big lead in the second set going up 4-1, but Kvitova would battle back, but Garcia would prove to be too much, and would take the crown.
Final Caroline Garcia defeats Petra Kvitova 6-2, 6-4
