Darius Rucker Celebrates New Album, Gets Nostalgic During Release Party

Darius Rucker

Darius Rucker celebrated the release of his new album When Was The Last Time during his iHeartCountry Album Release Party for an intimate room of fans at the iHeartRadio Theater in New York City, giving the crowd an unforgettable live taste of the new record -- and got nostalgic with some amazing throwbacks and covers.

When Was The Last Time is Rucker's fifth solo country music album, which follows 2015's Southern Style. Fans were first introduced to the new record back in July 2016 with its hit single "If I Told You," and since then, Darius has released several songs from the full 13-track album, including his new single "For The First Time." And among the 13 songs on the record is a mega-collaboration with country stars Jason AldeanLuke Bryan, and Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley on a song called "Straight To Hell."

During Darius Rucker's iHeartCountry Album Release Party, the country star performed many of his new When Was The Last Time songs like "If I Told You," "For The First Time," "Twenty Something," "Hands On Me," and "Another Night With You," which Darius explains is his favorite song on the record. He told the crowd, "I never say this, but this is my favorite song on the record," after telling the story of the track's writing session with legendary country songwriter Dean Dillon (George Jones, George Strait, Kenny Chesney).

Darius also performed a few hits from his previous albums, including everyone's favorite "Wagon Wheel," in addition to tracks like "Don't Think I Don't Think About It," "Alright," "Comeback Song," and "Homegrown Honey." And in case that wasn't enough throwback music of Rucker's for fans, he performed an amazing country version of his Hootie & the Blowfish hit "Only Wanna Be With You," with a stunning dobro guitar and banjo breakdown from his band.

And just because the live stream on iHeartRadio's YouTube channel had ended, didn't mean Darius was ready to end the show -- because it's not over until Darius Rucker says it is. The country star continued to perform, launching into "Don't" from his new album, a cover of Garth Brook's "Friends In Low Places," and a cover of Blackstreet's 1996 gem "No Diggity."
