2024 Cincinnati Open Semifinal: Tiafoe vs Rune

The spot in the finals of the 2024 Cincinnati Open was up for grabs late Sunday night, as American Francis Tiafoe took on Denmark's Holger Rune. After a long day of tennis that saw multiple rain delays and 2 3-set matches, the lone match on Center Court for the night session went on at around 8:30pm.

The 2 men would battle back and forth in the 1st set until Rune picked up a late break to win the set. The second set was much different with Tiafoe quickly jumping out to a lead and pushing through, and just like the other semifinal, this match would go to a third.

This time the young Dane would jump out to an early 5-2 lead, before the American came storming back to even the set at 5-5. Rune would hold serve, as would Tiafoe, and we would go to a tiebreaker. Tiafoe would go up early, and never look back locking in his date with Sinner in the final.

Francis Tiafoe defeats Holger Rune 4-6, 6-1, 7-6(4).

Tiafoe will play Jannik Sinner for the Rookwood Trophy on Monday.
