Roland Garros Final - Alcaraz

Wimbledon Final - Sinner

With Cincinnati set to host the next edition the questions was could sinner even the score, or was Carlos destined to be crowned the new Cincinnati champion.

Sinner's road to the final, after a 1st round, saw him go through Daniel Elahi Galan of Columbia in the 2nd round, Gabriel Diallo of Canada in the 3rd, Adrian Mannarino of France in the round of 16, Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada in the quarterfinal, and Terence Atmane of France in the Semifinal.

For Alcaraz, who also had a 1st round bye, he beat Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia-Herzegovina in the 2nd round, Serbia's Hamad Medjedovic in the 3rd, Italian Luca Nardi in the round of 16, Andrey Rublev of Russia in the quarterfinal, and German Alexander 'Sascha' Zverev in the semifinal.

From jump in this match, everyone in attendance could tell something was off with Sinner. His energy was low and his play appeared timid. On power shots, he would consistently hit long. After Alcaraz won the first 5 games, Sinner decided to end his tournament run in the Cincinnati Open, and retired.
