PHOTOS & AUDIO: 2025 Cincinnati Open Women's Final Paolini vs Swiatek

The final match of the 2025 Cincinnati Open took place Monday evening as the women took Center Court to play for the Rookwood Cup. Iga Swiatek of Poland took on Jasmine Paolini of Italy. Head-to-head Paolini not only has never beaten Swiatek, she's never won a set against her.

Swiatek's road to the finals after a 1st round bye saw her defeat Russian Anastasia Potapova in the 2nd round, Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine in the 3rd, Sorana Cirstea of Romania in the round of 16, Elena Kalinskaya in the the quarter finals, and Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan in the semifinals.

On Paolini's side of the bracket, after her 1st round bye, she beat Greece's Maria Sakkari in the 2nd round, American Ashlyn Krueger in the 3rd round, Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic in the round of 16, American Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals, and Russian Veronika Kudermetova in the finals.

The match started out like the men's final, with Paolini jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead. Unlike the men's final though, Swiatek would come roaring back and go up 4-3. Both players would trade breaks, but Swiatek would pull away and win the 1st set.

In the second in became a battle to see who would hold serve first. Neither woman seemed to full momentum at any point in the match, until Swiatek had a late hold. Now up a break, Paolini would hold to bring it to 5-4. Then Swiatek would serve out the match, finishing Paolini off with an ace and take the title.

From here the WTA tour heads on to Cleveland for the Tennis By the Lake WTA125. Also starting this week is the qualifying in New York for the US Open.
