Brewers 8 Reds 2
What a disheartening start to the season.
Chad Patrick (insert “Who?”), handcuffed the Reds on one run over 5.1 innings in his 2nd ML start. Jackson Churio bombarded the Reds with two homers and five RBI.
The Brewers, with seven starting pitchers on the IL, took 3 of 4 in the series. That’s an 11th consecutive series loss to the Brewers. The Reds are 14-34 vs the Brewers since 2022.
They stand 3-7 on the season and head to San Francisco for three games.
Offense: 2 run on, 5 hits, following 11 runs on 14 hits Saturday night.
Spencer Steer: BB, HR. Entered the game with one hit and one walk.
1B: Elly, Friedl RBI
2B: Fraley
Lux: Didn’t take the best route on double over his head in LF.
Santiago Espinal: Heck of a dive and throw at 2B
What are we doing?
Wynns passed ball scored a run.
CES fielded a squeeze bunt along the foul, rather than letting it roll foul.
Suter charged w/ error on pickoff throw that CES should have caught.
Matt McLain: Did not start for a 3rd straight day (hamstring).
How they scored:
4th Steer HR, 7-1 Brewers
8th Friedl RBI 1B, 7-2 Brewers
Carson Spiers: 3.1 IN, 5 H, 4R, 1 BB, 3 K, 66 pitches/42 strikes. Brewers crushed 7 balls at 100mph+ off the bat
Bullpen:
Moll 0.2, 3 R
Suter 2.0
Gibaut 1.0, HR
Ashcraft 1.0
If we are being honest, there are a number of players on this roster that are of absolutely no use to this team.
