Tony Santillan entered with runners on 1st and 2nd and two outs in the 9th. Heliot Ramos ripped a 107.6mph sinking laser to left field that Jacob Hurtubise made a diving stab on to end the game. Santillan picked up his first save since 2022.
Opposition: Logan Webb 10 K over 7 shutout innings. The Giants entered with a seven game winning streak and were looking for their first 9-1 starts since 2003.
Offense: 5 H, 2 BB, 13 K.
Blake Dunn, a late lineup addition for Jake Fraley, rocked a 2-run 8th inning double to break up the scoreless game.
Matt McLain: Did not start for a 4th straight day (hamstring).
Jake Fraley was in the original lineup, but scratched with left side pain. As a result, Terry Francona had two fully healthy bench options: Austin Wynns, Santiago Espinal.
Nightly gaffe: With runners on the corners in the 2nd, Logan Webb attempted to pick off Spencer Steer at 1st base. Lamont Wade Jr. started to chase down Steer, but then pivoted and fired home to cut down Jeimer Candelario attempting to score.
