Reds: Two more miscues equals another loss

Ah, the little things. 

The Marlins scored twice in the 7th inning thanks to two miscues by the Reds defense. 

Leading 3-2, T.J. Friedl airmailed a cutoff throw to the plate as the tying run came home, allowing the batter to advance to 2nd. The go-ahead run then scored on Graham Ashcraft’s throwing error on a comebacker, his second error of the season. Ballgame. It was their 14th unearned run allowed this season. 

Record: 11-13. It’s their first series loss in Miami since 2021. They’ll try to salvage a game in the series Wednesday afternoon. 

Offense: 7 H, 3 BB, 11 K. That’s 25 K the last two games. SB: Elly 2 (8), Friedl (4), Hays (1) 

Big bat: Noelvi Marte: 431-foot HR, 116.7 mph. BB. Per Sarah Langs: 3rd-hardest hit HR in Statcast era (2015), behind De La Cruz: 119.2 mph, Aristides Aquino: 118.3 mph. 

Friedl: 2 H, 2B, RBI. On base 15 times the last five games, but just one run. 

Jose Trevino: 2 H. Up to .314. Team leading sixth double in 55 plate appearances. Had five doubles in 234 plate appearances last season.

Jeimer Candelario: SF RBI. Returned after sitting for 2 days. 

Matt McLain: 3 K. K rate at 29%. Down to .196.

Nick Martinez: 5.2 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 4 K, 79 pitches. Best outing of season. 1st inning: H, 2 BB, R. Six pitch 3rd. Run in 6th. 
2024: 18 BB in 142 IN…..2025: 9 BB in 26.2 IN 

Bullpen: Graham Ashcraft entered in 6th to strand tying run on 2nd w/ K. 

Defense: 
Heck of a running catch in the gap by Gavin Lux in LF. Marte nice running catch in foul territory. 
% of runs allowed that were unearned: 2024: 6.5%.....2025: 15%
