Bats come alive, Abbott deals, Reds win

Andrew Abbott took a shutout into the 8th, Noelvi Marte and Will Benson homered, and the Reds (47-46) rediscovered their offense to snap a four game losing streak.  

Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara entered the game allowing the most earned runs (67) in baseball. The Reds pounced on him for three runs in a 31 pitch 1st, and then tagged him for three more in the 4th. 

The Reds will not be swept for a 30th consecutives series to begin the season. That's ties their longest streak to start a season since the 1989 team. They are the only team not swept this season.

Abbott: 7/2 IN 6 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 5 K, 100 pitches. 2.07 ERA. That's 13 outings allowing 1 or 0 runs.
Two 8th inning hits and run ended his night. Team is 12-4 in his 16 starts.
He's just so dang clinical and meticulous in how he navigates a lineup.
Calm pitching in early traffic. Wasn't at best early. Retried 11 in a row into 7th. 
Fielded his position well. Clinical outing.
