Reds lose Lodolo, win game

Reds 3 Cubs 2

TJ Friedl lined a two-out, two-strike RBI single to break a 7th inning tie.

Ke'Bryan Hayes made a do-or-die charge and throw to end the 7th, that prevented the tying run from scoring. Dansby Swanson was initially ruled safe for an RBI infield single, but the Reds (59-54) won their challenge.

Considering what this team has faced the last 72 hours, that's a pretty ballsy win.

One day after having to cover 8.0 innings, the Reds bullpen was asked to cover 7.1 more, when Nick Lodolo exited in the 2nd with a blister on his index finger.

Lodolo: 1.2 IN, 0 H, 0 R, 0BB, 1 K, 23 pitches.

Bullpen: 7.1 IN, 2 R
Martinez 2.1, 2 R, HR
Barlow 2.0, 0 R. 6thX since last Monday/3 vs LA, 2 vs Atl.

Both teams were forced to change pitchers early. Cubs starter Mike Siroka left after 2.0 w/ shoulder discomfort (Ben Brown)

Former Red, Taylor Rogers, tossed a 1-2-3 8th, with 2 K.
