My favorite episode of “Seinfeld” aired on TBS recently. It's the one where Jerry, George and Elaine are stuck in an interminable wait for a table at a Chinese restaurant.
It occurred to me that the entire episode was an unlikely but near perfect reflection of life as a Reds fan these days.
I'll offer a synopsis with a spoiler alert that's really unnecessary. If you aren't familiar with this show and this episode, then we need a conversation that runs deeper than as to why I gave away the ending to an episode of an iconic TV show that aired almost 27 years ago.
The gang wanted a table at a Chinese restaurant with no reservations before going to see “Plan 9 from Outer Space.” What they got was a maître d' continually assuring them in broken English that they’ll get a table in, “five, 10 minutes.”
