The trade deadline is approaching, and you want the Reds to do something. Specifically, you want the Reds to do something that hurries the rebuild along and moves the club closer to contention, something that might seem a little more realistic in the wake of their recent surge.
I’m totally with you. The deadline could provide this team with a chance to take a significant step forward, depending on what they’re offered and whether they pull the trigger on any trades.....
....The Reds are in a decent place, especially for a team that’s still at the bottom of its division. They’re not necessarily desperate to move anyone, yet they’ll likely need some outside help if they want to take the progress of 2018 and turn it into something more meaningful next year. Every trade they consider, and especially the ones they might ultimately make, should be made with the idea of getting the absolute most in return possible. The preference should be toward players – specifically, starting pitchers – that can help almost immediately.
