Verne Lundquist is one of sports broadcasting's icons. He called, among other things, the NFL, NBA, college football - including a lengthy run as the lead voice for the SEC on CBS - the NCAA Tournament, Olympic figure skating, and a ton more. He's written a new book that's a fun, entertaining read, and I got to talk with him about both the book, and his career on ESPN1530. We chatted about drinking with Bill Raftery, calling the greatest college basketball game ever, and how his call of a UK basket against Duke in 1992 inspired a catch phrase that I used in every pickup game for 20 years.
