You’re probably going to see and hear a lot from Mike Bohn this week.
The University of Cincinnati will host its first regular-season basketball game in its newly renovated arena this week, with the Bearcat men getting a long-awaited crack at Ohio State in its own building on Wednesday night. Bohn, UC’s athletic director, will boastfully tout the new place, and deservedly so.
Fifth Third Arena 2.0 is a marvel, even if it is still a work in progress. If you helped oversee the Shoe’s makeover from a dingy gym that was outdated two decades ago into a modern, aesthetically overwhelming arena, you’d be a little self-congratulatory too.
But if the man in charge of Bearcat athletics really wants to trumpet his own work this week, he’ll talk at length about the football coach he hired 23 months ago.
